We had a few "developmental" appointments today, so I thought I would add a couple more updates. Stella and Zoe saw the eye doctor this morning (no pun intended). Zoe has astigmatism in her left eye and Stella has it in both eyes. Basically they will both have to start Kindergarten with glasses. We also had the NICU follow up clinic today. Surprisingly, everyone passed the hearing screen. It took a lot of energy and entertaining to have them not pull the ear piece out and just when you think you're managing them, they vigorously shake their head and out it pops. The follow up clinic consisted of the girls completing a couple of skill tests-putting cubes in a glass, stacking blocks, dumping an item out of a container, playing catch and they colored for the first time! They did well and passed with flying colors!
I have a feeling that we are fast approaching the "terrible two's".. triple that in our case I guess. We have gone from throwing full body temper tantrums to hitting and biting ourselves/toys or each other. Abby is notorious for this-and the only reason that we know this is because she is the only one that has all her teeth that match the full circle of teeth mark. Stella has become her victim as of late as you can see in the following picture. I think that I counted a total of 8 bites....and she got her good on the cheek a couple of weeks ago. Obviously we are open to ANY suggestions.
Stella and Zoe have finally decided that they can handle walking on their own. They are far from keeping Abby's pace, but enjoy walking alone. They have the Zombie in a horror move pace going on.
We are attempting to do away with pacifiers. So far, not going too bad as we are only using them at bedtime. Along with brushing our teeth and climbing the steps to bed, we have also started a new ritual...dancing (Usually to the same 2 songs). So, turn up the volume and watch as Abby demonstrates (one of my favorite videos)!
We have added the girls to the chore list. They have been good about helping pick up toys and giving you items when you ask. Here they are helping with the laundry...okay it's more like pulling clothes out of the laundry basket so we can rock and play in it.
Reading has become a favorite as we start to use more words. Abby's new thing is "what's this"?
A couple of weekends ago when my parents were here, we learned how to say "Bert" and now we say it all the time, especially when we find our Bert Sesame Street toy. Abby also helped grandpa inspect his tools when he passed through the living room on his way to make our new bathroom in the basement.
In closing, I will leave you with a few photos from our 2nd round of hair cuts. This time went A LOT smoother. We took them to a shop that specialized in kids cuts (and check out the cool things you sit on as they cut your hair!)
