What Else Have We Been Up To?

The things these girls pick up day after day amazes me! Combine the three of them and you have your very own dictionary, I swear. They are big time into repeating words that you say and love when you ask them "were's...." and are able to point it out. We like to say names.....again and again and again. Especially Zoe. Even when she reads, she will point to the pictures and give them family names.

Reading. Another hobby for all three. Zoe gets into it the most and will read you stories all night long. Here is a video of a typical story read by her:

We've also been working on colors, ABC's and Saying phrases like, "I Love You". Here is Stella demonstrating:

Believe it or not, we are still cutting teeth. Stella and Zoe are finally getting their eye teeth and Abby just cut a 2 year molar!

Yes, we are still silly!

Minnesota Weekend

We traveled to Minnesota this past weekend...some may think it was to escape the flooding in Iowa but it was actually to visit family and participate in some family events. Really though, MY intention was to push the baby out of my sister Lindsay's belly-I was tired of waiting to meet it.

We headed up Thursday afternoon. I worked a half day then headed home to pick up the rest of the crew so we could be on our way. Shortly after I left work, Lindsay calls, "hi, how are you?" I respond, "fine...are you at the hospital?" She acknowledges that she is and states that they are going to admit her (roughly 12:30 pm). I'm totally excited and can't drive fast enough to get there! We arrived at my parents about 6..still no baby, so we wait....we go to bed. The phone rings at 2am.....It's a GIRL (which I predicted since the day Lindsay told me she was pregnant)!!!! MORGAN MEAD SCHROEDER was born at 12:51 am on 6/6/2008 weighing in at 7 lbs 15 ounces and 20 inches long. Totally adorable and has the most beautiful features. I headed up to the hospital early that morning with my parents to meet my new niece. Here she is:

Ian and I took the girls up to meet Morgan later that day..which almost got us kicked out of the hospital (such rowdy girls). They were very excited to see Liney and Annie (Lindsay and Andy) and baby Morg. Stella absolutely loved Morgan and gave her like 50 kisses all while carassing her head saying, "nice baby". Zoe greeted her with a big smack on the head and Abby welcomed her by trying to poke her eyes out (she was pointing to her eyes). Morgan remained tuff and didn't move a muscle (she was quite content in Uncle Ian's arms).

Friday night, my sister-in-law, Heidi and my other nieces (Lily and Evie) came over for supper. The girls enjoyed playing with Lily and Abby instantly became attached to Heidi. (My brother Adam had a baseball game and couldn't join us-they won though!)

Heidi trying to feed Evie, but Abby wanted to sit on her lap...and be fed baby food.

We also spent some time running around on the deck:

Saturday was my mom's company picnic-the main reason we headed to Minnesota in the first place-to go to the Minnesota Zoo! The morning started out a little ify, but it turned out to be a nice, warm day and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. The girls really enjoyed interacting and touching the animals at the "farm". It was so much fun watching their reactions when we took them up to the cages/windows to look at the animals....they usually laughed. Here's Stella at the fish tank. Her and Zoe were making fish faces as the fish swam by.

Looks like it's time to head home:

We ended the weekend by attending Lily's 3rd birthday party. She had a new swing set which the girls really enjoyed. They also had a jumping tent thing-the girls weren't sure what to do at first, but once they figured they could run in it, they had a lot of fun.

But, this fun filled trip to Minnesota, had to come to an end...but not before we made a trip to the Emergency Room. Yep...while we were getting ready for the party, the girls were playing in my parents living room, climbing onto the footstool, then onto the couch. Zoe underestimated her reach and took a nose dive, resulting in a head on collision with the footstool and the bridge of her nose. It instantly turned purple and fat and we decided it would be best if she was seen prior to our drive home. She was back to herself even before we left to go to the hospital. The pictures aren't the best, but you can see a little bit of the bruising. Today it looks like she's wearing a super hero mask.

Playing

The girls love the little strollers (that's why we have 3). Too bad that they like pushing each other around in them more than they like pushing around their dolls.

We've tried coloring before, but it has never gone well due to the girls wanting to eat the crayons or stick them in their ears. It's amazing what a Sesame Street coloring book can accomplish here at the Fox Den. Look how nice they colored...yeah, I had to cut them off after like 45 minutes. They were not happy with me and boy did they let me know! (As you can see, Abby's my Lefty).
